Pattaya is a ‘blooming’ city, to say the least.
Over the last decade, we have seen the city grow and grow. Every soi in Pattaya you turn into, you’ll find some form of construction in progress: a renovation of an older building, road improvements, or a brand‑new project under construction. This has been ongoing for years and shows no sign of slowing down.
Curious readers of Lifestyle by the Sea, with an interest in the Pattaya property market, asked me to gather some opinions about these activities and how they affect the outlook for the coming years.
Pattaya Looks Like a “Grand Sale”
I met with the Managing Director of Town & Country Property, Mr. Cees Cuijpers, one of Pattaya’s leading realtors. I also did some homework and browsed countless websites to see what Pattaya has to offer. I was surprised — it looked like Pattaya had started a “Grand Sale,” with everything available for sale or rent!
Cees smiled when I shared my impression.
“The situation here in Thailand is different from many other countries,” he explained. “If you own a property in Thailand and you wish to sell or let, you can list your property with multiple agents. In Holland, where I come from, you would normally only work with one agent.”
The same applies if you are looking to buy or rent. You can contact several agents, and soon you’ll notice that many of the Pattaya condos for sale or houses for sale in Pattaya appear across multiple websites.
That’s why it seems like the whole of Pattaya is for sale. In reality, it’s often the same properties advertised by different agents.
Why Work with One Trusted Broker
Lifestyle by the Sea advises using just one dedicated professional broker if you want to buy or rent property in Pattaya. If your agent understands your needs and has a strong portfolio of Pattaya real estate, you’ll find what you’re looking for without wasting time.
The Outlook for Pattaya Property
When asked about the future, Cuijpers admitted it’s hard to “read tomorrow’s newspaper,” but his expectations remain positive.
Owning a property in Thailand is still considered a luxury, and luxury goods are often the first to fade in tough economic times. Yet, compared to the cost of living in Europe, Thailand remains attractive. Many foreigners prefer sunny beaches here over cold winters back home.
With ever‑improving infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and sports venues, Thailand is becoming a true “home away from home.”
